GOLDEN, Colo. (Aug. 19, 2026) – The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office has charged Patrick “Ted” Barnett, 40, with three criminal counts, including First Degree Murder, in connection with the death of his wife, Lindsey Barnett, age 37, of Lakewood.
On August 13, 2026, West Metro Fire Rescue and Lakewood Police responded to the Barnett residence, where Lindsey Barnett was pronounced deceased at the scene. Later that day, Patrick Barnett was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. He is being held without bond.
Today, following the review of the investigation, the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office has charged Barnett with the following felony counts:
Count 1: Murder in the First Degree – After Deliberation (F1)
Count 2: Tampering with a Deceased Human Body (F3)
Count 3: Tampering with Physical Evidence (F6)
Barnett is scheduled for a status hearing on Friday at 9:30 A.M. in courtroom 410.
The filing of criminal charges is a formal accusation that a defendant committed a crime under Colorado law. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
