GOLDEN, Colo. (June 26, 2026) – Last week, First Judicial District Court Judge Ryan Loewer sentenced James Albert Maestas, 41, to 30 years to life in the Colorado Department of Corrections for the sexual assault and robbery of an employee at a Westminster business in 2025.

Former CBI Lab Analyst Missy Woods Pleads Guilty

GOLDEN, Colo. (Jun. 23, 2026) – Today, Yvonne “Missy” Woods entered a guilty plea to four felony charges stemming from criminal conduct committed between 2008 and 2023, during her career as a Forensic Laboratory Scientist at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Under the terms of the plea agreement, the parties stipulated to a mandatory Department of Corrections sentence ranging from eight to sixteen years.

Former High School Psychologist Michael Chevrier Sentenced

Jefferson County District Court Judge Diego G. Hunt on Thursday sentenced James Michael Chevrier to a term of at least 5 years in the Department of Corrections following his conviction for Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust. Chevrier was also convicted at trial of drug related charges and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

GOLDEN, Colo. (June 18, 2026) — On Monday, Sage Valentine (DOB: 2/23/2006) was sentenced to six years in the Department of Corrections for a February 2025 crash on Highway 93 that killed Cynthia “Cindy” Myers, 64, of Littleton.

Woman Charged with Murder Following Death of Her 16-Year-Old Daughter

GOLDEN, Colo. (June 3, 2026) – The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office has charged Gretchen Leanne Ryan with one count of Murder in the Second Degree in connection with the alcohol-related death of her sixteen-year-old daughter in March 2026.

Verdict Reached in Trial of Former Mountain View Councilman

GOLDEN, Colo. (Jun. 1, 2026) – A Jefferson County jury has found Brent John Metz guilty of Third Degree Assault (M1), the lesser included offense of Second Degree Assault, and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm (F5). He was acquitted of Second Degree Assault and two counts of Menacing.

Former Officer Facing Criminal Charges, Investigators Seek Additional Information

GOLDEN, Colo. (May 19, 2026) – District Attorney Alexis King announced today that Christopher Gearhart has been charged with six counts of First Degree Official Misconduct and four counts of Cybercrime related to alleged misconduct committed between July 2023 and July 2025, while employed as an Agent of the Lakewood Police Department (LPD). Gearhart worked as a patrol agent from approximately January 2019, until he resigned pending investigation in September 2025.
