GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 13, 2026) – Daniel Ryan Clark was sentenced this week to ten years in the Colorado Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to Tampering with a Deceased Human Body. The parties stipulated to the ten-year sentence. By statute, the offense carries a sentencing range of four to twelve years in prison.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 5, 2026) – Today, Laura Prats was sentenced to eleven years in the Department of Corrections for her role in the death of fifty-eight-year-old Sheryl Seitz. Prats previously pleaded guilty to Negligent Death of an At-Risk Person. Her co-defendant, Brian Seitz, was sentenced to ten years in prison in December of last year.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 3, 2026) – Last week, the second juvenile responsible for the 2022 fire at the Tiffany Square Apartments in Lakewood, which killed two people and injured many others, pled guilty and was sentenced to the maximum sentence of seven years in the Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Youth Services (DYS), bringing a lengthy court process to a close.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 2, 2026) – Today, Chloe Rose Castro entered a guilty plea to Sexual Assault on a Child by one in a Position of Trust – Victim Less than 15. Castro is set to be sentenced in April.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Jan. 12, 2026) – A Jefferson County jury has returned its verdicts in the trial of People v. James Michael Chevrier. Chevrier was convicted of five charges, including the top charge of Sexual Assault on a Child. He was acquitted of two charges.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Dec. 9, 2026) – Alexander Avila and Lisa Johnson have pleaded guilty and been sentenced for the death of eleven-week-old Ezra Johnson.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Dec. 3, 2025) – The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office has filed five charges against Gregory Mark Giles (DOB:9/30/60) and five charges against Bryce Anneaus Giles (2/21/99) in connection with an alleged street racing crash that killed two people and injured three.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Dec. 1, 2025) – Brian Lee Seitz (DOB 7/29/1987) and Laura Pratts (DOB 9/15/1970) have pleaded guilty to Negligent Death of an At-Risk Person for their roles in the death of fifty-nine-year-old Sheryl Seitz, who was Brian’s mother.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 20, 2025) – The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office has filed ten charges against Matthew Impellitteri (DOB 7/30/69) in connection with a shooting on November 11 in Conifer that left a thirty-eight-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head.
