Darrell Eugene Wall, DOB 1-24-70, appeared yesterday in Jefferson County District Court where he was sentenced to twenty-four years to life in prison for sexually assaulting five women he lured into his van and RV, by offering them a ride or a warm, dry place to sleep.
In October 2019, Lakewood agents were contacted by a woman who said she had been sexually assaulted by a man that she was able to identify as Darrell Wall. Lakewood PD opened an investigation and identified additional women who reported that they had also been sexually assaulted by Wall between June 2018 and November 2019.
On October 29, 2020, a Jefferson County jury returned guilty verdicts on two counts of Sexual Assault (F3), one count of Unlawful Sexual Contact with Force (F4), and two counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact (M1). The court imposed consecutive sentences amounting to a total of 24 years to life in prison. Under Colorado’s Lifetime Supervision of Sex Offenders Act, Wall will stay in prison indefinitely, until it is determined that he would not pose an undue threat to the community if released.
According to witness testimony, the five women were all loosely acquainted with Wall, having met him along the W. Colfax corridor in Lakewood. Wall repeatedly took advantage of the women’s vulnerability and sometimes their basic survival instincts in needing transportation, money, or shelter. Wall used their needs to his advantage to lure them and then abuse them physically, verbally, and sexually.
“Darrell Wall is a serial rapist who targeted the most vulnerable people in our community – the unhoused and those struggling with substance abuse and other health challenges, who lacked helpful support systems,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Katharine Decker. “By targeting the most vulnerable and least likely to have help, Darrell Wall succeeded for a time in evading prosecution. But thanks to the diligence of law enforcement and the bravery and resilience of these women, we were able to ensure that he cannot continue to exploit the most vulnerable in our community.”
